_Shahersouk 6
Suddenly a group of children gathered around me, attracted by the camera in my hands. They looked as lively as can be expected for kids that have seen nothing but conflicts, war and poverty throughout their tender life, and likely to see darker days for years to come. Then I stood for moments staring at the wall of an ancient church called 'Mar Bethoun', that shared its walls with the local Mosque and our old house. Muslim and Christian families lived side by side, happily and friendship. I had to pay a visit to the local Turkish bath, known as 'Hammam Ubaid Agha', a place everyone in the neighbourhood had to visit to have a real scrub and enjoy a fresh 'Estican' of tea |
